Visit any reasonable-sized supermarket and you’re sure to discover a tremendous selection and choice of honey. Unless you’re really clued-up, it’s hard to know which one to pick. It’s so tempting to stretch out and pluck the cheapest jar from the shelf, or the one with the prettiest packaging. But these aren’t necessarily the best. So, let’s take a look at different types of honey so that you’ll better understand them, knowing which ones to select and which will be the most beneficial.

Pure Natural Honey

If you’re after a good quality, straightforward honey, you should go for pure natural honey. You’ll be able to tell whether or not it’s pure honey simply by reading the label on the jar. If no extra ingredients have been added then you’ve got pure honey, and this is what you want. As with most honeys, the color and flavor will vary according to the flowers and plants from which the honey bees collected nectar. For example, depending on where you live, you could have a choice of lavender, sage, thyme, orange, clover … plus many, many more.

Organic Honey

In order to produce organic honey, the beekeeper has to follow an extremely strict set of rules and undergo stringent testing. For example, the bees have to be at least a certain distance away from contamination and pollution, equipment has to be squeaky clean and free of unapproved chemicals, only low heat can be used, and accurate and traceable labeling is required.

Raw Honey

Raw honey is perhaps Nature’s purest medicine, for it’s the honey still in its untouched state. You’re most likely to find this locally, perhaps at your nearby farmers market. If commercially produced, raw honey can only be labelled as such when minimum processing and low temperatures have taken place.

As well as having the super healthy components of other types of honey, true raw honey is likely to contain such beneficial ingredients as pollen, Propolis, beeswax, and parts of the honeycomb. Fortunately, the beekeepers tend to strain out any dead bees!

Active Manuka Honey

Manuka honey is also worth a mention for it contains a powerful phytochemical and is particularly effective in stimulating hydrogen peroxide, making it an excellent healer for open infected wounds and burns, not to mention internal ailments. Manuka honey comes from the Manuka tree, found in New Zealand. You need to take care when buying it, for there are many fakes. Check the label to see that it states the Unique Manuka Factor (UMF). Number 16 or above is ideal.

Whichever honey you choose, pick a good quality one. Spend less money on pills and potions, more on honey and you’ll be well-rewarded both health and beauty-wise.

Janette Marshall publishes Health Benefits of Honey, a resource dedicated to offering you complete information about honey and its medicinal properties. You’ll find more articles about different types of honey at her website.

Raw, organic honey is sweet and delicious — it’s also good for you and your health. Organic honey is has always been one of nature’s sweetest gifts — its health benefits have been know and used for centuries. But recently, natural honey has been gaining popularity as one of human nature’s sweetest assets.

For organic honey to be considered “organic,” the honey manufacturer must follow strict organic standards and practices during production. Otherwise, it’s just a sweet substitute for the real thing — pure, raw and organic natural honey. To be truly organic, the honey can have no pollutants that some bee harvesters use to kill pests and bee diseases. They must use natural methods to combat these natural environmental hazards that happen during natural honey manufacturing.

Honey when organic offers a variety of health benefits, as well as natural ingredients in recipes. For instance, honey is sweeter than sugar — so you use less of it and consume fewer calories. Organic honey has no cholesterol and is fat free. And it doesn’t spoil — honey pots have been found in ancient Egyptian tombs with honey still present in them and it still was pure and unharmed!

Honey and Your Health

Natural Organic honey alone is rich in vitamins such as C, B1, B2, B5 and B6. It also contains essential minerals such as iron and calcium. Organic honey is also known to help ease asthma symptoms, relieve arthritis pain, sooth nagging coughs and settle upset stomachs.

Energize with Honey

Boosting energy levels is another benefit from organic honey. Many athletes use honey because it helps maintain their blood sugar levels and heals muscles after working out.

Wound Management with Honey

There are many benefits for using natural honey to help heal wounds. Since honey has antibacterial, anti-fungal and antioxidant properties, it helps speed up the healing process, deodorizes wounds and helps tissue regeneration and stimulates the growth of new skin. Because of the enzymes present in organic honey, when mixed with water, produces hydrogen peroxide — a perfect antiseptic for minor cuts, scraps and abrasions.

Organic honey alone provides so many health benefits. Using raw, organic natural honey provides more potency than other forms of processed honey because intense heat or pasteurization destroys many of the natural healing properties.

Honey when organic, partnered with ginger, helps treat symptoms of the common cold — coughing, runny nose and sour throat. This mixture also helps respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis, as well as problems with indigestion. Organic natural honey, mixed with milk, helps improve stamina, is used in skin care and anti-aging remedies, and relieves constipation.

Finally, honey as organic together with cinnamon is great for boosting the immune system, stopping insect bites from itching, reducing hair loss and stimulates hair growth, providing relief of arthritis pain, lowering cholesterol levels and stops bad breath and toothaches.

Now, why wouldn’t you go organic when it comes to using honey? Ancient Egyptians knew it — ancient Greek healers knew it — native Americans knew it — and used it. Now, you know it, too. The power of organic honey is more than a tasty treat — it’s a treatment for a healthier, stronger human body.

As one ages, there is an urge to try products that attempt to delay aging or minimize its visibility. Many people go to dermatologists to consult on their beauty problems. But of course, it is a known fact that consulting these experts costs a lot of money. Much as many would like to avail of their services, many just cannot afford it.

So the best suggestion is to go natural. By this, you will not be spending much and you can be assured of no radical side effects that would cause you more stress.

Honey facials can give you many benefits. For starters, honey helps your skin bring in moisture and retain it which makes it a very important ingredient in beauty products. It is also popular for its healing properties. It can also be used to ward off infection and bacteria because when it is added to propolis, it can have the benefits of hydrogen peroxide.

Try one of these honey facials and see what it can do for you. For those who have normal to oily skin, you would need to beat one egg white and add 1 tablespoon pure organic honey. Mix the two ingredients until they form a paste. When applying it to your face and throat, it should be in an upward motion only. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water followed by a cold water splash.

For those who have dry skin, you would need 2 tablespoons honey and 1 teaspoon olive oil. Blend these two ingredients well. Its application on your face and throat should likewise be in an upward motion. It is advisable to use this treatment once a day for two weeks to experience a wonderful effect.

Finally, a solution for much hydrated skin is 2 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon dairy cream, and 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Mix well all the ingredients. Apply the solution by patting on your skin. Leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with using cotton pads and bottled water.

Try it and see the effect!

Now you want to live longer, look younger, and be healthy, right?

For centuries, people have known about the benefits from honey in food but over the years, honey as a moisturizer has been discovered and with amazing results. The key in using honey moisturizer is using the right type to ensure its level of purity and therefore, healing properties. So what makes honey so special?

Honey is a type of natural humectant, which means for people with dry skin, it can produce incredible results. Best of all, it is completely safe so there are zero associated side effects. Other advantages is that it is affordable, easy to find, available from all kinds of resources, effective, and again, is safe.

Keep in mind, the type of honey you buy at the local grocery store is not the kind you want to use for moisturizing the skin. Instead, you want to find a health food store or check for online resources that sell manuka honey for moisturizer This type of honey is extremely pure and therefore, much more effective. This organic honey when used on a regular basis will transform the skin, making it smooth and youthful.

Manuka honey comes from New Zealand manuka shrubs. For a long time, it has been used not only for treating the skin but also for medicinal purposes. Because it is a natural antiseptic, antibacterial, and moisturizer, it combats skin problems from several different angles. People who use honey as moisturizer will find the skin becomes soft and firm, problems such as acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema diminish. It also helps in the treatment of rashes, burns, and even infection.

As mentioned, honey is organic, which means it contains zero chemicals like often found in high dollar skincare products. This means that regardless of skin type, dry, oily, sensitive, or combination, honey will not do any harm. Many people have heard about the properties of this New Zealand product, which is why manuka honey as moisturizer has become a top seller for people wanting to fight signs of aging.

It has enzymes that are capable of correcting free radical damage done to the skin. This allows skin cells to heal and rejuvenate while levels of collagen and elastin in the body are improved. The problem with some skincare products is that they work too much. However, with manuka honey, the skin is moisturizer to the perfect balance so dry skin is treated but without becoming greasy.

The only real challenge for people is finding a place where it is sold. There are some online resources but expect to do a little homework. While this type of moisturizer is the best option, other natural skincare products containing vitamin E, macadamia oil, grape seed oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, allantoin, avocado oil, and Cynergy TK have also been found highly effective and safe. With the right product, one used daily, you will begin to notice changes in the skin to include diminishing problems such as acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema. It also helps in the treatment of rashes, burns, and even infection.

Raw organic honey is as healthy as it is delectable. I tried raw organic honey one day while shopping for groceries at the neighborhood nutrition store. It didn’t look appealing from the outside of the bottle, it looked quite waxy to be honest, but I was curious as to how it would taste. We try to keep our diet as organic as possible in my house so we’re always looking for something new and interesting to add to the mix. Honey is sweet so you can’t go wrong there. It can be used to sweeten our tea or add to a peanut butter sandwich for my daughter’s school lunch, so I knew at the very least that it wouldn’t go to waste.

I always pictured honey as a healthy sweetener that is fun to have on occasion. To my knowledge, honey was healthy though possibly a little too sweet to consume in abundance. Honey is one of those things that you don’t have at the top of the list when shopping at the grocery store. You very rarely hear anyone speak about eating honey and it is certainly not advertised very much on television. You most likely will not see a grocery store special on honey this week and many young children are probably not even aware of its existence unless it’s something they simply associate with bees. Honey is not the hottest item on the market right now, so there might be a lack of awareness of its health benefits.

Allow me to start by describing the experience I had when I first opened my jar of raw organic honey. The appearance did not change much once I opened the jar, as it looked just as waxy as it did from the outside. I was guessing that this might be one of those products where the non-organic version has been so processed I might not be prepared for the real thing. I began to get a little timid about tasting the first spoonful. Will it taste as weird as it looks? My family looked on as I hesitantly scooped out a pea-size sample and smelled it before following through with the taste test. Sure enough, I did it.

Raw organic honey is the definition of God’s gift to sweetness. The flavor was out of this world and I couldn’t imagine how I would prevent myself from indulging in its goodness for the rest of the night. My family couldn’t wait to try it once they saw the look of satisfaction on my face as if I discovered new uncharted territory. Everyone loved it and I had to place it on a high shelf to prevent my daughter from eating it for dinner. I couldn’t believe the difference between your average store-bought honeys to this pure, straight-from-the-honeycomb natural blessing!

Once I became hooked, I decided it might be a good idea to learn more about the nutritional information pertaining to raw organic honey. How much is too much and what if any health benefit does it have? I loved it so much I wanted to use it in everything and I’m not just talking about food. I remembered that I used to make my own facial masks and that they included honey. I wondered what it would be like to slather it on my face; after all, you shouldn’t put anything on your face that you can’t eat. I gave it a shot. The label stated that it includes antioxidants and we ladies all know that this means it has anti-aging properties. It had the consistency of a peel-off mask as I applied it and I noticed the feeling of my pores beginning to tighten- not too shabby. I gave it a few minutes and wiped it from my face with a warm facecloth. If you want to remember what your face felt like when you were five years old, then give this technique a try. Raw organic honey is also a great natural conditioner for your hair and can be used to wash your hands due to its antibacterial and antimicrobial factors.

I looked up more information on the nutritional value of raw organic honey and found that it offers so much more than you would imagine it could. Raw organic honey contains 22 amino acids, 27 minerals and 5,000 live enzymes! Notice that I am writing about raw organic honey because it is untainted, the way nature intended. It is free of chemicals, artificial additives and pesticides. The pollen in non-organic honey is removed to help prevent granulation but this is where much of the nutritional value of honey is found.

Raw organic honey has many benefits. It contains simple carbohydrates that are easy on the blood sugar. These carbohydrates are great for energizing your muscles before working out and help muscles recuperate afterward. It eases morning sickness and sore throats. It can be applied to all sorts of abrasions to speed up the healing process including canker sores, eczema and acne. Rather than using bacitracin or hydrocortisone, go for a more natural approach! It is also recommended for application on diabetic ulcers. Raw organic honey has been known to lower bad cholesterol and reduce the chances of colon cancer.

Mixed with cinnamon this honey can provide relief for bladder infections, upset stomach, and arthritis- even something as simple as bad breath! Mixed with lemon, raw organic honey helps to reduce fat in trouble areas like our hips or love handles. It helps to transform that fat into energy, making it easier to burn off. Raw organic honey mixed with raw apple cider vinegar can relieve constipation and migraines. Mix the honey with warm raw goats milk and it will increase fertility.

Raw organic honey has phytochemicals called polyphenols which act as antioxidants. These help to protect against free radicals that contribute to aging and diseases. You will also benefit from the following vitamins when you consume this honey: niacin, pantothenic acid, riboflavin, zinc, potassium, phosphorus, manganese, iron, magnesium, copper and calcium. The quantities of ingredients vary between jars depending on the source of flowers used by the bees that make the honey.

The bee pollen found in raw organic honey is known as a whole food and is sold separately in many nutrition stores as a supplement. It is said that you could actually survive on 35 grams of bee pollen per day. This natural wonder gives you energy and works to improve libido. It regulates mood and increases cognitive function. Bee pollen stimulates your metabolism, strengthens immunity and promotes longevity.

Everything in moderation as they say, so I’m not recommending that you eat a whole jar of honey every day although it does sound good. You should limit your consumption to about one teaspoon per day, as this serving will already contain 20 grams of fructose. Keep in mind that people with allergies to bee venom might not benefit from consuming raw honey but it does help to relieve 90 percent of all other allergies. Those allergic to pollen and mold will be eating a sample of what they are allergic to and this helps to build immunity. Note that children under one year of age should not be fed honey of any kind due to the fact that they do not have a fully developed digestive tract and cannot break down its bacteria.

In general, a little a day might do wonders for your health. I choose to eat my serving right from the teaspoon because I love it so much that diluting it wouldn’t be half as much fun. I didn’t think it was possible to enjoy my raw organic honey more than I did when I took that very first taste, but every bite is twice as pleasurable now that I know what it is doing for my health.

Raw organic honey is best for you when purchased locally and many of your neighborhood nutrition stores will buy from local farmers. Visiting one of these stores may cut down on travel time for you. If you do not have a nutrition store that sells local raw organic honey and you do not have transportation to the nearest organic farm, you will most likely be able to order their products online and have it shipped. You must try raw organic honey for yourself and taste the delicious flavor and the most amazing natural sweetness. Raw organic honey can be added to your favorite foods for a great secret recipe. There are times when I will take a great recipe from Food Network and turn it into an organic version adding a little honey for extra flavor. This little treasure never spoils and can be used as a natural preservative!

Make your dishes delicious with ideas like these:

Fried Salmon steaks with honey

Glazed cupcakes with honey and orange juice

Pancakes with honey rather than syrup

Honey sweetened cornbread

Honey can replace sugar in your pasta sauce. Throw in a little organic coconut oil and everyone will want your secret recipe!

For centuries, honey has been used for everything from sweetening foods and drinks to treating and healing our bodies. You get the most benefits from honey when it’s used “o-natural,” — which means raw and in pure, organic form — straight from the hive. Fresh Raw honey simply tastes better and is more potent.

Honey is considered one of nature’s purest foods. It’s a natural antioxidant, contains 22 amino acids, 27 minerals and 5,000 enzymes. Organic honey can help keep you healthy by boosting the immune system, fighting disease and treating a wide range of health problems from coughs and colds to digestion problems and arthritis.

Other health benefits that come from using raw Organic honey is a very sweet list:

– Fight fatigue. Organic Raw honey contains carbohydrates that arm you with energy, endurance and strength.

– Breathe easier. Honey, taken before bedtime, can help with Asthma symptoms.

– Aching joints. Drinking honey in hot water with cinnamon has helped relieve the pain and immobility associated with arthritis.

– Hacking coughs. Using honey with other ingredients can help ease the annoying nighttime cough.

– Upset tummy. Because honey doesn’t ferment in the stomach, it is easily absorbed with no danger of bacterial infection.

Unprocessed, Raw honey actually helps heal burns, cuts, scraps and wounds. Its natural antiseptic properties can actually keep wounds clean and stop bacteria from spreading. Because it’s a natural antibiotic, it helps reduce swelling, promotes healing and preventions infections in burns.

Honey is also being used more thanks to “word of mouth.”

There are many oral benefits from honey as well. It can actually help heal cancer sores and bleeding gums. Honey is also used to fight bad breath all day when gargled in the morning.

The beauty of using raw, Organic honey is more appealing then ever.

Applying a small amount of honey over the skin, then rinsing off leaves skin baby soft. Honey is also used as part of homemade facial masks to help tighten pores and soften facial lines. Using honey on the hair and scalp prior to washing leaves hair shiny, soft and full of body. Finally, honey used as an antibacterial soap helps clear up facial blemishes.

The honeymoon is never really over.

It’s been discovered that Raw honey actually helps men with problems of impotency and women with infertility problems. In fact, Raw honey mixed with warm goat milk can actually increase a man’s sperm count considerably.

You will lose more than you will gain with honey.

More people are using honey as part of their weight-loss program. Honey actually helps reduce fat buildup and metabolize cholesterol which is a factor in causing obesity. Honey also contains the vitamins and minerals that the body needs when you are on a strict diet.

Finally, here’s some food for thought about organic raw honey.

In its purest form, Raw honey contains no preservatives, artificial colorings or additives — so when you cook with it, all you’ll taste is the sweet goodness. It’s also used more and more as a sugar substitute because you get fewer calories, is easier for the body to process and brings out the flavor of your foods and beverages.

Keep your honey in the raw.

It’s only natural that going organic provides a healthier mind, body and spirit. Honey is a gift from nature — open it, enjoy it and use it — because the benefits will never spoil.

Product Description
Raw, Unheated, Unfiltered, Unpasteurized What is the major difference in organic from conventional beekeeping? Organic bee colonies are not maintained with the use of any chemicals! Terramycin for treating foulbrood disease, Apistan for Verroa mites, GardStar for treating small hive beetles, nor Bee Go to chase bees instead of using a smoker. We meet all the standards of Organic Certification including: GMO Free, Land Certification, Beehives Certification, Producer Certification, Processor Certification. How can someone say it’s organic honey when bees can fly wherever they want? First, the beehives are specifically placed in isolated areas away from any type of contamination (golf courses, agricultural areas, heavy traffic areas, landfills). Secondly, the flying range of a bee is determined by their natural instinct which tells them to stay within approximately a two mile range from their hive location. When they fly out of this range, all sense of direction is lost. What makes your honey crystallize solid? Where and what type of plants bees forage on will determine the nutrient level, crystallization, color, fragrance and taste. Y.S. beekeepers have the true knowledge of quality. The results produce a superior, energy packed (intense crystallization) honey with the highest possible levels of live enzymes, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and healing agents as a functional food. Only truly raw state honey that has never been processed will crystallize with intensity and has full beneficial properties nature intended. Beneficial Facts; Functional properties and health related applications
